Anna-Marie is a Practicing Kinesiologist registered with the BC Association of Kinesiologists. She completed her degree at UVic in 1999 and was the starting goal keeper on the varsity field hockey team during her studies. After finishing her degree she worked in the field for a few years in both clinical and occupational rehabilitation and as a civilian fitness instructor for new recruits entering the Canadian Forces. During this time she found her way into a rowing shell and, managing to stay upright, worked her way onto the Canadian National Rowing Team. She competed for Canada for six years, including at two Olympic Games – Athens 2004 in the Women’s Eight and Beijing 2008 in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls. Having emerged from the dream, she came back into the field of Kinesiology and settled into her work helping clients improve core stability, strength, balance, endurance and overall functional ability. Despite (or maybe because of?!) her highly competitive sport background, she has found she loves working all ages and abilities – from seniors and individuals who are needing the most basic movement & balance training to highly functional individuals looking for ways to refine their sport or favourite activity. All of her exercise programs are tailored to clients specific, functional needs and goals and can include home, studio or pool based rehabilitation. She is a Medical Exercise Specialist and is certified with the Functional Movement Screen Level 2. She enjoys the outdoors, connecting with friends and family and being active in her spare time, preferring to ‘exercise’ instead of ‘train’.
